Vacation, All I Ever Wanted…
Never have I ever been so desperate to escape the winter blues, and I’m quite sure I’m not alone in that feeling. It’s been a particularly tumultuous start to 2021—and we’re only 16 days in. Life was hard enough on a global scale with the precarious political state and the ever-worsening COVID case count but matters were made much more dire on a personal level when I journeyed out for a run on the Embarcadero a couple weeks ago (and just two days into my January Whole30/fitness regimen) when I tripped (mask blocking lower field of vision, errant crack in the pavement) and landed squarely on my left forearm/elbow. I learned a couple days ago that fortunately it’s not broken, but needless to say, I’ve been largely out of commission ever since.
So today, when I awoke finally feeling somewhat human, I knew I had to combat some of my increasingly heightened seasonal depression by venturing deep into Outfitland where I could pretend I was literally anywhere else but in lockdown. I mustered up the strength to get dressed for the first time in weeks and imagined what I might wear if I were on vacation right now…and then added the requisite winter weather touches to make it feel appropriate for this time of year.
This look is what lockdown daydreams are made of.
Last weekend when I wasn’t feeling up to doing anything but lying down, I used my laptop as a viewfinder into brighter and more vibrant worlds and finally pulled the trigger on this Farm Rio confection I’d been staring at for ages. If you aren’t yet a fan, this Brazilian brand needs to be on your radar. Their tropical-infused, boldly hued pieces are as ethically-driven, environmentally conscious and high quality as they are uniquely beautiful: for every purchase made, a tree is planted.
I love the way this dress moves (if you couldn’t tell based on how many photos I took).
Outfit details: Farm Rio dress; Ideele hat; Vagabond boots via Sundance; vintage belt.
