Snaking Through the Back Alleys
I went on a real outfit shooting spree last weekend. Between lockdown, my improving arm, my hangover-less outlook on life (thanks to being on my semi-annual Whole30 cleanse), and all the new clothes I ordered to make myself feel better while bedridden, I had a great deal of energy + a commitment-free schedule. So I took to the streets and shot multiple outfits each day—and last weekend happened to be a three-day weekend, so I accomplished a lot. These days, now that I’m employed full time during the week again, I like knocking out a couple outfits at a time, when possible, so I have content primed and ready to post during busier weeks.
I took a stroll over to one of my favorite shooting haunts (an alley a few blocks from my apartment) and while in the midst of posing with my tripod, was approached by two lovely humans from a neighboring branding agency, Iindvidual, who saw my rudimentary setup from their window and came down with their actual camera, offering to snap a few pics of me. I gleefully accepted. For the record, my bluetooth tripod is pretty badass for its ability to enable me to do my thing solo, but I always welcome the skills & equipment of a professional. Saami and Flo art directed me, situating me in the day’s last rays of sunlight and guiding my poses. I’ve included two of their shots in the gallery below—can you guess which are theirs? Hint: they’re the two best ones.
It dawned on me after I met them: I couldn’t remember the last time I’d met someone new. We’ve been isolated within our small bubbles for so long, it was so refreshing to talk with people—at a safe distance, of course—whom I’d never met before. And neighbors, to boot!
