One Mint Feather Dress | Two Iconic SF Backdrops
I bought myself a gorgeous silky, mint-hued, feather-adorned confection towards the beginning of lockdown to cheer myself up even though at the time, I had no plans in sight that would have required such a frock. But sometimes—and not all the time, but just sometimes—you have to buy the dress in order for the occasion to present itself. So when my good friend and renowned photographer, Russie, was in town a couple months ago and offered to do shoots with me, I knew immediately this dress needed to make its debut, because I had to face the fact that it might be months before an actual event worthy of its splendor would come around. We made a plan to shoot at Maiden Lane at 7am, which would provide the illusion of evening/golden hour but avoid all of the pedestrians and cars that would surely be on hand at that hour.
It was shortly after the shoot when I was contemplating when to post the photos that I realized this would be the perfect dress for my and Justin’s one year wedding anniversary celebration. At that time, it was still a couple months out so we weren’t even sure how we would be celebrating, but I knew it would involve delicious food and a (safe, socially distanced) night on the town, so I decided to hold off and instead create one collective post showcasing this dress in two different settings.
I already can’t wait to wear her again.
Maiden Lane
Chinatown
We went to Mr. Jiu’s for an incredible anniversary dinner this past Saturday night and did a mini photo shoot beforehand. Justin shot a few of these and some were done on my tripod. I wore my wedding shoes and clutch as a nod to our big day.
